Gardaí say they're aware of anti-racism protests planned in the region today and will be in attendance to ensure compliance with Covid-19 regulations.
Protests are planned for this afternoon in Cavan and Monaghan but Gardaí say they "may be in contravention of Government Regulations and public health guidelines".
Concerns have been raised about the protests going ahead in light of the
ongoing pandemic but organisers in both counties have said social distancing and public health advice will be strictly adhered to.
Gardaí say they "have engaged with the organisers to inform them of the
situation" and there is "an onus on everyone to mitigate the risk of further
community transmission".
In Cavan town, the protest will be held outside the Courthouse at 3pm.
While in Monaghan town, it's been moved to McNally's Carpark and is
scheduled to start at the same time.
