Aontú Councillor Sarah O’Reilly is calling for the Cavan County Council to back proposals for a low-cost safety scheme in Middle Chapel.
The Transport Infrastructure Ireland scheme provides funding to make blind spots on roads safer for the public.
O’Reilly is asking that the council make an application to the scheme on behalf of the main Cootehill / Bailieborough R191 Road.
She says that Middle Chapel residents have been raising concerns about the road for 20 years and that residents often have to work on the road themselves in an effort to make it safer.
