Aontú is to hold its general election selection convention for Cavan-Monaghan next week.
Party leader Peadar Tóibín says the local constituency is a key target for the party at the next election.
A party spokesperson hasn’t confirmed how many candidates will go forward to the convention but it’s expected Cavan Councillor Sarah O’Reilly will contest.
She topped the poll in the Bailieborough-Cootehill area at May’s local elections.
Gráinne McPhillips and James Duffy also contested for Aontú locally but failed to win seats.
The convention will take place in Cootehill on Monday night.
