At least 37 Palestinians killed in violence over opening of US Embassy in Jerusalem

At least 37 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops near the Gaza border, according to Palestinian officials.

The violent clashes come ahead of the opening of the US embassy in Jerusalem today.

Tanaiste Simon Coveney says the move is “inflaming a very tense situation”.

It’s angered Palestinians who don’t recognise the city as Israel’s capital.
