The main action last weekend focused on the National 10k Road Championships which was held in conjunction with the Great Ireland Run on Sunday in wind swept conditions in the Phoenix Park.

It was a first for both Hiko Tonosa of Dundrum South Dublin and Catherina Mullen of Metro Saint Brigids, as both picked up their maiden National Senior titles. Mullan from Cootehill and a former Shercock athlete before moving to Dublin and joining the MSB in Dublin had a strong run to win in 34:52 ahead of Barbara Cleary of Donore Harriers in 2nd in a time of 35:15.

In the age categories Carrick Aces athlete Rose Lambe who was competing in just her second race after been out for a year due to injury took the Silver behind Niamh O Sullivan from An Riocht in Kerry in the Women’s Over 55.
