Australia’s prime minister says the country’s bushfire crisis has escalated to an “entirely new level”.

Temperatures have soared past 40 degrees in many areas and winds are picking up.

More than 20 people have died so far and an extra 3 thousand army reserves have been called up to help tackle the fires.
