Banks are downsizing and squeezing human beings out of the bank system.
That’s the view of Fianna Fail Deputy Niamh Smyth after it was announced that Ulster Bank Branches in Arva and Cootehill in Cavan and in Carrickmacross in Monaghan are among those to be closed.
Ulster Bank says an average of 30 customers per day used each of the affected branches in the past week.
The closure of the local branches is scheduled to take place in September.
Deputy Niamh Smyth is calling on the Minister for Social Protection and the Minister for Finance to intervene to support the staff affected by the closures in Cavan and Monaghan.
