Blackhill are the Ulster Junior football champions for 2019 after a magnificent 1-11 to nine point victory over Buncrana in Healy Park.
Buncrana’s physical game gave them an edge as Blackhill suffered a blow with Philip Donnelly black-carded in the 18th minute helping Buncrana’s lead 0-8 to 0-5 at half-time.
Blackhill asserted their authority in the second half, Donal Courtney leading their charge with a man of the match performance. Four points in a row saw Blackhill take the lead with 12 minutes remaining.
The Monaghan side went two points up with eight minutes remaining. Buncrana responded with their first point of the half to set up a nail-biting finish.
Eight minutes of injury time was given by the referee and Andrew Burns put Blackhill two up again 11 points to nine as Blackhill’s shored up their defence as Buncrana’s Darach O’Connor was sent-off with two minutes of injury time remaining.

Tommy Geehan capped the evening with a goal with the last kick of the game as the Monaghan side sealed the Paul Kerr cup with a five point victory.
