Bodies of 11 local people returned home thanks to work of Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust

The bodies of 11 people from Cavan and Monaghan have been returned to the region by the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust since the organisation was founded.

The Trust aims to alleviate the financial hardship of bereaved families by repatriating the body of a loved one who has died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances.

Since the Trust was founded in 2013 – around 242 people nationally have been returned to Ireland, with seven from Cavan and four from Monaghan.

The Trust is currently waiting to get charity status in the Republic of Ireland.

Emma Finnegan, whose brother James was repatriated from South Korea in 2014, says after he died, the Kevin Bell Trust gave her family the support they needed.

A fundraiser for Kevin Bell is taking place on St Stephen’s night, December 26th in McKenna’s Bar in M.naghan town at 7pm.
