Monaghan made their first appearance in the All-Ireland Ladies Senior Football Final when they met Waterford 25-years-ago.
Waterford ran out 2-10 to 12 point winners on the day, to claim a third All-Ireland Senior crown in four seasons.
12 months later, Waterford prevailed yet again over Monaghan, before Monaghan claimed back-to-back titles in 1996 and 1997.
25-years on from the 1994 decider, played on October ninth at Croke Park, the LGFA reunited two of the main protagonists, Waterford’s Marie Crotty and Monaghan’s Brenda McAnespie.
Marie was inducted into the LGFA Hall of Fame in 2018, and Brenda will feature on a forthcoming episode of TG4’s Laochra Gael, due to air in early 2019.
