Brendan Smith explains yesterday’s count centre absence

Fianna Fáil election hopeful Brendan Smith has received some criticism in Cavan-Monaghan for not being present at the count centre yesterday.

In an interview with Eddie Butler at Cavan Leisure, he said he was “returning calls to constituents” and that he “never attends a count” until it’s almost concluded.

Matt Carthy, Heather Humphreys and Pauline Tully have already been elected, leaving two seats still up for grabs.
