The National Broadband Plan is the only option to get high speed broadband to all of Ireland according to a local Senator.
Joe O’Reilly was speaking after the Oireachtas Communications Committee voted on its report into the plan.
The Committee was split on amendments proposed to the report, which called for another review into the project to be carried out as well as for the project to remain in public ownership.
Despite the Fine Gael members voting against the amendments, they were defeated by five votes to three.
