Businesses facing increased costs when reopening after lockdown

Businesses face large bills for measures they have to put in place to ensure social distancing.

Phase one of the lifting of the lockdown began on Monday with garden centres, hardware stores and other businesses allowed to reopen.

However, requirements for social distancing mean some businesses face large costs for the installation of perspex screens and other measures.

The Monte Carlo takeaway in Monaghan town has spent tens of thousands on changing its set up to allow for a one way system for customers, while also installing screens and a covered waiting area outside.
