Calls for Cavan County Council to defend the size of the proposed Ballyjamesduff Fire Station

A local councillor has called on the council to defend the size of the proposed Ballyjamesduff Fire Station.

The department have requested that the council revise the costs of the current plan for the station, which Fine Gael councillor Trevor Smith says would mean downsizing.

The new station would cover Mountnugent, Ballyheelan, Kilnaleck , Crosskeys, Lavey, and part of the N3 and was to be the same size as the new Fire Station in Virginia.

The station in Virginia is close to completion, however, the Ballyjamesduff Station is yet to start works, with this request from the department delaying progress further.
