Cancellation of MMA event in Monaghan welcomed by Sports Minister

The cancellation of an MMA event due to be held in Monaghan is being welcomed by the Sports Minister.

Shane Ross said the standard of medical care planned for the event in Magheracloone tomorrow night would have fallen short of recommendations. Increased standards were set following the death of Portuguese MMA fighter Joao Carvalho at an event Dublin in 2016.

The Minister says Treacy’s Hotel cancelled Saturday’s event once the seriousness of the situation was understood.
