Council have approved permission for a care home to be erected in Carrickmacross.
Councillor P.J O’Hanlon urged Councillors to support the new nursing home at the monthly meeting of Monaghan County Council on Monday. The three storey building is to be located in the North of the town providing 90 beds and 90 jobs. Cllr Noel Keenan voiced his support saying it will also create jobs for construction workers involved describing it as an ‘exciting’ development that would help families who are faced with travelling outside of the area for long term care.
Three quarters of elected members were required to vote in favour of the planning application in order for it to progress and Monaghan County Council voted unanimously in favour of the planning proposal. Councillor O’Hanlon said it is ‘fantastic’ news especially given the predicted nursing bed shortage.
