Casey calls for suspension of EU freedom of movement

An independent European Parliament candidate says Ireland should suspend freedom of movement because the country doesn’t have the homes and services to cater for people from other countries.

Peter Casey, who’s one of 17 candidates running in the Midlands-North West constituency, says there should be a temporary suspension of movement rights unless there’s a need for skilled labourers.

He drew criticism during last year’s Presidential campaign for comments on travellers’ ethnic minority status. However, Peter Casey told The Joe Finnegan Show today that Ireland needs to live up to its obligations to resettle refugees:
