A Castleblayney councillor has called for works to be carried out in Lough Muckno to make the area more wheelchair friendly.

Aidan Campbell says great work has been undertaken to enhance Lough Muckno in recent months, but noted that a number of disability groups have contacted him over accessibility issues regarding picnic benches.

The Fine Gael councillor says the benches are surrounded by gravel, which causes difficulties for wheelchairs.

He’s calling for the ground around some of the picnic benches to be cemented to make them more wheelchair friendly.
