Castlerahan See Off Cavan Gaels To Make Final

Castlerahan booked their place in the 2019 Hotel Kilmore Cavan senior football final and a meeting with Ramor United.

Castlerahan had too much for Cavan Gaels as they secured a 1-11 to nine point win. Oisin O’Connell’s goal 18 minutes into the second-half sealing a Castlerahan victory.

Castlerahan led seven points to four a half-time, two Martin Dunne free’s had moved Gaels into an early two point lead.

Points from Paul Smith, Enda Flanagan and Karl Cosgrave moved Castlerahan ahead on 11 minutes. Martin Dunne restored Gaels lead on 18 minutes, Gaels last score of the half.

Points from Oisin O’Connell, Ronan Flanagan, Cian Mackey and a Oisin Kiernan 45 gave Castlerahan a seven points to 0-4 lead.

Ronan Flanagan and Vincent Coyle exchanged points as did Daniel Graham and Oisin O’Connell to make 0-9 to 0-6 13 minutes into the second-half.

Keenan Donohoe reduced the deficit to two points before Oisin O’Connell’s killer goal 12 minutes from time.

Cavan Gaels were never able to curtail Castlerahan’s control of the game as they won out 1-11 to 0-9 and setup a final meeting with Ramor United on October 13.
