The Rotunda returns to RTÉ tonight and will feature Cavan-based nurse Sam Kelly.
The programme gives a behind-the-scenes look into the Rotunda, which is the world’s longest-running maternity hospital.
Over one million people have been born in the hospital and some 24 new babies are added to that number every day.
Kelly faced a long stint in the Rotunda due to complications arising from her pregnancy.
During a check-up, Kelly discovered she was pregnant with twins.
However, the twins shared a placenta, a rarity that affects just 1% of twins.
As a result, Kelly became an inpatient at the Rotunda from the 26-week mark of her pregnancy and had to undergo twice-daily checks to monitor the well-being of her twins.
Kelly spoke to The Joe Finnegan Show about her stay in the Rotunda:
