Cavan childcare provider critcises government handling of service for frontline workers

A Cavan childcare provider says the government must act with more urgency when it comes to plans for providing services to frontline workers.

Minister Katherine Zappone released details of the phased re-opening of facilities on June 29th this week, which includes caring for children in separate pods, parents waiting in cars, and grouping siblings together.

However, local childcare provider Anne Clarke from Playaway in Cavan Town, says such information is being drip fed through the media and they want direct communication from the government on how they should prepare and proceed in the coming weeks.

Anne says that while a working group has been set up that has representation from the sector included, there is a lack of urgency, and questions that need answering on the suggested model before any facilities can open.

Speaking to Northern Sound Anne outlined some of the areas of concern.
