Cavan Civil Defence volunteers anxious to play their part during coronavirus crisis

There are 200 volunteers in Cavan who are anxious to play their part during the coronavirus crisis.

That’s according to John Maguire of the Civil Defence Group in Cavan.

Some of these volunteers have been helping vulnerable and older people who are “cocooning” by delivering groceries and calling in to check up on them.

The Cavan Civil Defence has also been delivering patients to the renal unit in Cavan General Hospital and will be providing an ambulance service for general patient transport from Wednesday.

John Maguire also says that the Cavan group has been working closing with Monaghan’s Civil Defence during the pandemic and have been sharing resources.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, Mr Maguire said the Civil Defence volunteers train all year round for emergencies like these:
