Cavan Councillor who claimed local ETB is too political, is replaced

Sinn Fein councillor Paddy McDonald has joined Cavan and Monaghan Education and Training Board.

The local Councillor was elected to fill a vacant position on the Board at the most recent Cavan County Council Meeting.

He’s replacing fellow Sinn Fein councillor Eugene Greenan who resigned his post in January saying there’s too much political involvement in the running of its schools.

He says 71 per cent of the board’s make up is either politicians or former politicians but that this is a flaw in the Department of Education’s design of national education boards.
