A Cavan councillor has urged members of the public use the official N3 Virginia bypass webpage to raise their concerns over the bypass, instead of taking to Facebook.

At a recent Ballyjamesduff MD meeting, Shane P O'Reilly said he has noticed the emergence of Facebook groups and pages regarding the bypass.

While he commended the people behind the groups for their interest in the scheme, he said "putting messages up on Facebook is not a proper objection" and added that "this is not how you make a submission".

Online and telephone appointments can still be made via the N3 Virginia Bypass website and Councilor O'Reilly says this is how people should make their voices heard:
