Cavan Councillor won’t contest upcoming local election

Cavan Councillor Fergal Curtin has announced he won’t contest May’s local elections. The Fianna Fáil member had been recently selected by the party to run again.

However, he’s said that family and recent additional work commitments mean he’ll be unable to contest the election. He’s thanked his supporters, constituents and Council executive for their help over the last 10 years.

Fianna Fáil had selected sitting Councillors Fergal Curtin and Clifford Kelly, along with PJ Barry and Aiden Fitzpatrick to contest the Bailieborough-Cootehill area in May. It’s not yet known if another candidate will be added to the ticket.
