Cavan County Council has passed its budget for 2020.
Within its plan for the coming year, the local authority provided funding for a “Cavan Homecoming”, which will be an event to celebrate the diaspora of the county.
Chief Executive Tommy Ryan said it was a challenging budget given that the Local Property Tax remained unchanged and business rates were capped under the Revaluation Programme.
However under the revaluation of rates, 63 per cent of businesses will see a reduction in what they pay, and over €1.3 million has been put aside for successful appeals from those whose rates went up.
Earlier this week, Monaghan County Council met and adopted a budget for the coming year.
