Cavan’s Councillors are to discuss the North-South Interconnector at a special meeting this morning.
The electricity project got planning approval from An Bord Pleanála before Christmas but it’s been met with controversy and disapproval from local communities since first planned.
It would see hundreds of pylons built across Cavan and Monaghan, as part of the plans to connect the two electricity grids on the island.
Councillors from both counties met with the Energy Minister Denis Naughten last week to raise concerns about the project.
The planning process in Northern Ireland is expected to get underway in the next few months.
This morning’s meeting will include local Oireachtas members, and gets underway at 11.30 in the Council chamber.
