Cavan farmer says dog owners need to realise damage sheep-worrying can do

A local farmer says dog owners need to recognise the damage sheep-worrying can do to the farmer’s livelihood, as well as to the animal.

Kieran from Ballyjamesduff said people don’t realise dogs don’t have to attack or bite sheep to harm them.

He said it’s a very expensive time of year for sheep farmers as they prepare for lambing, and any threat to the animal is a big loss to the farmer. Speaking on Northern Sound, Kieran said almost a week after an incident on his farm, some sheep still haven’t recovered.
