Cavan farmer says rural areas “targeted” by illegal dumping

A Cavan farmer says rural areas are being targeted by illegal dumpers. Trevor Smith says its unfair people are using his land to get rid of household waste, and that he has to pay for clean-up.

Last week he and his family came across bags of rubbish left in a remote wooded area of his land. He’s supporting a call by the IFA to remove the risk of fines or prosecution to farmers if their land is used for illegal dumping.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, Trevor Smith said he feels people are going out of their way to dump waste.
