Cavan to get their Ulster Minor championship underway

Cavan will get their Electric Ireland Ulster Minor championship underway this Saturday evening when they face Fermanagh in Kingspan Breffni at 6pm.

The Breffni side had mixed fortunes in the league with 1 win, 2 losses and a draw in their 4 outings.

The win came over Fermanagh back last month with Cavan running out 1-21 to 1-05 winners at the Bawnacre 4G pitch.

There were defeats to Tyrone who lifted the minor league cup with victory over Monaghan in the final and Donegal while it finished a draw with Sligo. The Yeats county went on to claim the Ulster minor league shield title with a victory over Down.

Fermanagh completed the league with 4 defeats, but will be buoyed by the success of St Michaels College Enniskellen who claimed the Mac Rory and Hogan cups last month.

Cavan manager Gary Farrelly who is in his first year of management with the county should have a full panel to pick from and indeed can look to schools success as well with St Mogues of Bawnboy having claimed the Ward cup in the Ulster U19 competition.

Coverage of that game will be carried on the Northern Sound Website from 6pm.
