Cavan General Hospital is one of the first locations to launch the new Hand Hygiene Awareness Programme, Resist.
The programme is being launched today to mark World Hand Hygiene Day this Sunday, which aims to reduce the spread of infection in hospitals by making sure all visitors, staff, and patients wash their hands thoroughly. We’re all being reminded that washing your hands thoroughly is the easiest way to stop microscopic amounts of poo infecting yourself and others.
One of the initiatives under is Train the Trainer Programme, which will be piloted in Cavan General Hospital, as well as University Hospital Limerick and Portiuncula Hospital. David Lynch, Hospital Manager for Cavan General Hospital explained the consequences of poor hygiene practices:
