Cavan man reflects on two years since same sex marriage referendum

Its two years to the day since Ireland became the first country in the world to legalise gay marriage by popular vote.

Just over 62% supported changing the constitution – with more than 1.2 million people turning out in support of marriage equality.  It is one of the highest ever turnouts for a referendum.

Gerard Lovett from Kilnaleck in Cavan has been with his partner for 10 years – and campaigned vigorously for a yes vote.

He’s been reflecting on the last two years.
