Almost a quarter of a million burglaries have occurred in Ireland over the past decade, according to new analysis carried out by PhoneWatch which is equivalent to one in every seven homes or businesses experiencing a break-in between 2009 and 2018.

Dublin accounted for 41% of this figure with Tallaght Garda Station recording the most burglaries of any of Ireland’s 550 Garda stations nationwide with 7,791 burglaries.

Cavan and Monaghan combined had 4,494 burglaries, accounting for 8.43% for the national figure.

The figures also found that November was the most common month for burglaries and the most common entry point for intruders was the front doors at 24%.
