Cavan sees first connection under National Broadband Plan
The Allison family of Durmard, Cavan became the first family In Ireland to be connected to fibre by a local service provider on Thursday afternoon. The first connection under the National Broadband Plan has been made in Cavan.

The Allison family in the Drumard area were connected yesterday afternoon.

National Broadband Ireland has partnered with Belturbet company Arden Broadband as part of the rollout.

Yesterday's was the first connection made by a 'retail partner', with NBI itself carrying out the country's first connection in Cork last week.

Barry Wilson from Arden Broadband says the first connections will be made in the Killykeen area of the county, before moving to the Butlersbridge and Killeshandra areas.

And he says Cavan will be substantially covered this year:
