Cian Mackey has announced his retirement from inter-county football.
Castlerahan man Mackey made his debut as a minor back in 2005 and became one of its most prolific attackers over the past decade-and-a-half.
In a tweet issued this afternoon Mackey said; “Been an absolute pleasure playing football for Cavan GAA massive thank you to all coaches and managers that improved me as a player and an even bigger thank you to all my team mates over the years.”
Last season Cavan boss Mickey Graham used 32-year-old Mackey from the bench.
Mackey scoring three critical points from the bench against Armagh in the drawn Ulster SFC semi-final. The Breffni men went on to reach a first provincial decider in 18 years.
