Ciara McPhillips resigns from Monaghan County Council

Monaghan Councillor Ciara McPhillips has announced her resignation from the local authority.

The Fine Gael member has sat on the Council since 2011, when she was co-opted to replace Heather Humphreys who was elected to the Dáil.

In a letter to the Cathaoirleach today, Ciara McPhillips said it has become clear that she can’t continue in the role due to “time constraints”.

She says that she can no longer manage her full time job and work as a County Councillor and is “unwilling to do either job by halves”.
