Claims elections posters are being stolen or destroyed across Cavan and Monaghan

There are claims election posters are being stolen or destroyed across Cavan and Monaghan. People Before Profit’s Emmett Smith has said he’s reported the theft of a post on the Dublin road in Cavan to Gardaí.

In Monaghan, Fine Gael’s Fiona McCaffrey-Jones says she’s had a number of posters taken from the Carrickroe area of north Monaghan. She’s appealed for anyone who may have seen them to get in touch.

Meanwhile, Fianna Fáil’s Shane P O’Reilly says he’s had 16 posters either stolen or destroyed, including a number of large 8X8 signs. He says it’s disheartening as he reduced the number of posters he put up at the request of local communities and Tidy Towns groups but says in his mind “it’s targeted”.
