CSO figures show the border town has the second lowest average house price in the country.

Data for the first three months of the year shows that the median average for houses with a H23 Eircode was €82,000.

Only Castlerea was lower at €80,000.

H14 and H16 Eircodes for Belturbet and Cootehill also sit near the bottom of the list, with average house prices of €90,400 and €118,000 respectively.

A82 Eircodes, which covers east Cavan have the highest median price in the region, at €175,000.

Carrickmacross, A81, follows closely on 172,500.

House prices are highest in Dublin, it starts in Dublin 10 at 225,000 up to 607,000 in Blackrock.
