Clones student has been selected to represent the Northern Sound region at the SciFest National Final.

A Clones student has been selected to represent the Northern Sound region at the SciFest National Final.

Ruth Madden, from Largy College won the SFI Best Project Award for her project “The Microplastic filter – A Small solution to a Global Problem”.

She will now go forward to the National Finals later this year, and compete for an opportunity to represent Ireland at the International Science and Engineering Fair in California next year.

There was success for other local schools, the Patrician High School in Carrickmacross and Coláiste Dun an Rí taking home two awards, with Bailieborough Community School and St Bricin’s Belturbet also on the roll of honour.
