Clontibret have reached the Ulster Club SFC semi-final after a 0-10 to 0-9 victory over Crossmaglen Rangers at the Athletic Grounds.
The Monaghan champions blasted out of the traps and built a four point lead thanks in part to two Pauric Boyle points with Crossmaglen’s first score arriving on 15 minutes.
Clontibret led at half-time seven points to three, but Cross battled back after the restart to bring game back to a one point game seven to six with 15 minutes remaining.
However Clontibret rallied with talisman Conor McManus sending over three frees to move the Monaghan men three clear with two minutes of normal time remaining.
Crossmaglen paid for 13 wides they kicked to Clontibret’s eight in tough conditions as two points for Cross from Paul Hughes wasn’t enough as Clontibret held onto win.
Clontibret will now face the winners of Castlerahan and Naomh Conaill in the Ulster semi-final on November 17.
