Councillor Paddy O’Reilly hopes Cavan will continue to focus on cross border relations

Cavan’s outgoing Councillor Paddy O’Reilly hopes that the county will continue to focus on improving cross border relations. He announced in January that he would not be contesting the upcoming election on Friday.

The Virginia native was first elected in 1985, his father previously served on the council. He is 1 of 4 councillors retiring from local government in the region, with Paddy Smith and Fergal Curtain also leaving in Cavan.

Speaking on the Wider View today, the councillor recalled attending the first cross border council meeting.
