Councillor says Monaghan County Council must not facilitate Eirgrid

A Monaghan councillor has proposed Monaghan County Council in no way facilitate Eirgrid and the construction of the North South interconnector.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Seamus Coyle proposed that the council should make sure access routes for the North South interconnector only be approved with the knowledge and permission from relevant land owners.

At the meeting it was put to Councillor Coyle that the matter will most likely be brought to the board, making the motion ultra vires, and the motion was postponed for the executive to examine their options.
