Latvian officials are have visited Castleblayney today to discuss the needs of Latvian Children in care in Ireland.
A delegation from Latvia went to the Tusla Child Wellbeing Centre to discuss the needs of Latvian Children in foster or institutional care in the Irish State. It follows on from a meeting yesterday in the Latvian Embassy, which was attended by officials from children and youth affairs and the Department of justice. They looked at a number of issues for Latvian families in Ireland, especially those coming into contact with Irish Social Services.
Aidan Waterstone, Interim Area Manager explained they also have Community Champions in Cavan and Monaghan from various cultural backgrounds to help their community’s link with Irish Society. He said whilst there was a small number of Latvian children in care across the country, there are a few Latvian families in the Cavan and Monaghan area.
