The Department of Justice has received two applications for new CCTV systems in local areas.

The Department runs two CCTV schemes, one run by the Gardaí and one community based.

The community scheme has been dogged by delays over the last year, with questions over data protection.

Two applications for grant aid have been made locally, one for Ballyjamesduff and one for Monaghan town, with hopes they’ll help tackle anti-social behaviour and rural crime.
