Monaghan were beaten 1-21 to 14 points by Roscommon in Division 3A of the Allianz National Hurling league. It’s Monaghan’s second defeat in a row.
Roscommon started well, ascending into a five points lead after ten minutes Cillian Egan with Roscommon’s goal after 15 minutes. Roscommon led 1-13 to six at half-time.
Monaghan battled bravely in the second half but Padraig McGahern was sent-off in the closing minutes, Roscommon scored the last four points to emerge with a ten points win.
It’s two wins from two for Roscommon. Monaghan manager Trevor Hilliard lined up for the side as player-manager as Monaghan missed several players who are involved in the Castleblayney v Dunammagin All-Ireland Final next weekend.
