Drop in number of people visiting shops and recreation sites in Cavan and Monaghan

New data published by Google reveals that Leitrim has recorded the biggest
drop in the number of people travelling to retail  and recreational
facilities

Location data gathered by the web multinational reveals that the county has
recorded a 93 per cent drop compared to a drop of 86 per cent in Roscommon.

However, in Longford, the county has recorded the lowest rate of people not
attending retail at 77 per cent  – the lowest figure in the country.

The figure in Cavan is 81 per cent and in Monaghan  it is 80 per cent.

Visits to groceries and pharmacies across the region is down on average 40 per cent.

The figures show there is a large drop in the number of people going to work
across the region as well.

Adrian Weckler, technology editor with the Irish Independent told
Shannonside Northernsound said people are mostly adhering to either remain
at home, or changing their work rotas.
