Drugs Minister to address issues with funding for Cavan Drugs and Alcohol Service

The Minister with responsibility for drugs says she’ll be addressing the provision of addiction services in Cavan and Monaghan.

Junior Minister Catherine Byrne was speaking after the Cavan Drugs and Alcohol Service said it’ll have to close in 2020 because of a lack of funding.

Tim Murphy from CDA wrote a letter to the Government last month saying the organisation’s increasing rent and staffing costs were not being met by an increase in funding.

The Department of Health funds the National Drugs Task Force which in turn funds local projects.

Speaking to Northern Sound News, Minister Catherine Byrne said there needs to be a review of where funding is going:
