A Kerry man is running 24 marathons in 24 days to raise money for Spina Bifida.
Spina Bifida is a birth defect and occurs when the bones of the spine don’t form properly around part of the baby’s spinal cord. Last Thursday Shane Finn began his epic marathon challenge in Donegal, and is expected to finish up in Dingle in Kerry on July 15th – a total of 628 miles.
It’s all in an effort to raise €100,000 for Spina Bifida Ireland. This morning he’ has set off from Cavan Cathedral to Ballybay via the R188, and tomorrow he’ll set out from Supervalu in Castleblayney to Ardee.
Sinéad Breen from Rockcorry in County Monaghan is involved in helping Shane, as her daughter Mikaela suffers from the birth defect. Sinéad gave up her business to care full time for Mikaela.
