The European Commission has announced it will appeal the Apple tax ruling. In July, the EU General Court threw out the Commissions ruling that Ireland

The European Commission has announced it will appeal the Apple tax ruling.

In July, the EU General Court threw out the Commissions ruling that Ireland must collect €13 billion in unpaid taxes from the tech giant.

In a statement the European Commission has said the General Court made a number of errors of law, and making sure companies pay their fair share of tax remains a top priority.

The government will examine legal documents from the European Commission after it chose to appeal the ruling.

The initial ruling took four years to get to and it's expected the appeal could last as long.

Finance Minister Paschal Donohoe says the government will take time to consider the appeal before giving a more detailed view.
