IRFU Committee member and former Connacht Rugby President Adrian Leddy believes Ireland Coach Joe Schmidt WILL stay with Ireland after the Rugby World Cup next year.
Leddy’s comments follow Ireland’s history-making defeat of the All Blacks at The Aviva Stadium in the Guinness 2018 Autumn International Series over the weekend.
All eyes are now turning to Coach Joe Schmidt and to whether his success with this Irish team will mean that he is under even more pressure to return to his native New Zealand after the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan.
However, Leitrim native Leddy told this morning’s Joe Finnegan Show that he believes Ireland is very special to the rugby coach.
“The number one priority for Joe Schimdt and his backroom team is all about the world cup in Japan next year” explained Leddy.
“Joe has done a tremendous job” with the Irish team, “what Joe decides then is his own in decision” added Leddy.
“I know in the media, Joe is going to probably leave, but I’m not that sure that he will. Ireland is somewhere really special for Joe and his family and he loves it here.”
“When you talk to the man, he is passionate about Ireland and I’m not that sure” that he will leave Ireland.
